Remembering Steve Anderson of Anderson Mini Maples
July 24, 2026
You may have noticed Steve’s absence from the Salem NH Farmers Market over the last few weeks. It is with great sadness that we share the news of his passing.
Steve, the founder of Anderson Mini Maples, was one of our original market vendors and had been a part of the Salem NH Farmers Market family since we opened in 2010. For 16 years, he brought his maple syrup, craftsmanship, and unmistakable New England spirit to the Market each week. A maple producer for more than 50 years, Steve took great pride in sharing his products and connecting with the community, and the Market was one of his favorite places to be.
Steve represented a tradition that runs deep in our region — transforming maple sap into syrup through patience, hard work, and generations of New England know-how. His booth became a familiar stop for customers, and his steady presence became part of what made the Market feel like home.
As fellow vendor and board member Tom Paulinca shared, “Steve’s passion was being at the farmers market selling his maple syrup along with interacting with his market family and especially his customers ‘off the cuff’ questions.” That simple sentiment perfectly captures the joy Steve found at the Market and the dedication he brought year after year.
We invite you to revisit the story we shared about Steve and Anderson Mini Maples, celebrating his craft and the tradition he loved.
Steve is survived by his wife, Dotty, and a cousin. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dotty, his family, and all who knew him. We hope they find comfort in knowing that Steve was an important part of the Salem NH Farmers Market community and will be remembered with gratitude and respect.
Steve passed peacefully on July 21 after a recent illness. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no wake or funeral service. He will be cremated, and his ashes will be laid to rest in his family’s burial plot in Alabama.
Some vendors help make a market successful. Original vendors help build it. Steve was one of those people. His place at the Market will not be easily filled.
On behalf of the Salem NH Farmers Market Board of Directors, thank you, Steve, for your many years of friendship, dedication, and the countless memories you helped create. We are grateful for the years you shared with our Market community, and you will always be part of our market family.
We invite you to stop by the Welcome Booth this Sunday to share a memory or write a tribute that we will pass along to Dotty.
