Heat, Hikes and Holy Moly Snacks
New Englanders know August has a particular kind of energy. The heat is still turned up, the summer blooms are showing their age, and the days are just beginning to hint that they’ll eventually get shorter. But there’s plenty of summer left to enjoy — from weekends at the lake and salty breezes at the shore to local baseball games, hikes, agricultural fairs, ice cream runs and, of course, Sunday mornings at the Farmers Market.
August is all about making the most of it. So whether you’re packing up for a weekend adventure or simply settling into a shady spot on the porch, we’ve got a snack for you.
This week, we’re featuring Holy Moly Snacks — crispy, flavorful beef chips made for taking along wherever summer takes you. And with flavors ranging from Mild Spicy to Spicy Teriyaki and Spicy Smoky BBQ, they just might bring a little more heat to your August.
This week, we’re featuring Holy Moly Snacks, a perfect companion for your next adventure — even if that adventure only takes you as far as your front porch.
Holy Moly Snacks believes healthy outdoor experiences deserve healthy outdoor snacks, regardless of dietary preferences or restrictions. Their meat chips are made with real, high-quality ingredients and are organic, non-GMO, packed with protein, and free from artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives.
And while you might be tempted to call them jerky, they will be the first to tell you: they’re not jerky, and they never intended to be. Lean cuts of 100% premium beef are shaved thin and gently seasoned, creating a crispy, crunchy, highly addictive snack that lets the flavor — and the beef — shine.
With eight flavors to choose from, there’s something for nearly every snacker:
- Cracked Pepper
- Original Mild Spicy
- Original Spicy
- Smoky BBQ — Gluten Free
- Spicy Smoky BBQ — Gluten Free
- Spicy Teriyaki
- Teriyaki
- Lightly Salted — Keto, Gluten Free & Carnivore Friendly
Holy Moly also offers a No Seasoning variety, made with nothing but plain beef, as well as human-grade, salt-free and unseasoned chips made specifically for dogs. So yes, your four-legged adventure buddy can get in on the snacking, too!
The convenient bags are easy to toss into a backpack, cooler, picnic basket or car. Stored sealed at room temperature and away from direct sunlight and heat, they can last three months or more without refrigeration — making them ideal for camping, road trips, weekend picnics and all those spontaneous “let’s go!” moments that make summer special.
And they aren’t just for adventures. Holy Moly Snacks make an easy high-protein snack for a morning gym routine, a quick breakfast on the commute, or an afternoon pick-me-up during the workday. (And remember those school lunch boxes that will be here before you know it.)
Meet Holy Moly
We recently chatted with the Holy Moly team about the story behind the name, what customers are loving and what’s new.
Why “Holy Moly Snacks”?
The name came to life one night when the owners were lying in bed brainstorming ideas. They tossed around different possibilities, and somehow Holy Moly Snacks just stuck. It felt fun, memorable and like the right fit for the brand.
Where do you source your ingredients?
Holy Moly Snacks sources its beef and some of its ingredients from a local distributor in Londonderry, NH, which delivers directly to their facility and helps ensure a consistent, reliable supply.
How has business been this year?
Business has been going very well, with continued growth in online orders. Teriyaki is currently the best-selling flavor, followed by Smoky BBQ.
Lightly Salted has also become a favorite among customers looking for simple ingredients or following strict diets. Made with just beef, water and Himalayan salt, it’s about as simple as it gets — the company says customers often compare it to eating a steak with just a sprinkle of salt.
The No Seasoning variety has its own following, too, especially among customers looking for the purest option. And apparently, even some very picky dogs are fans!
For spice lovers, the toughest decision may be choosing between Spicy Teriyaki and Spicy Smoky BBQ.
What’s new?
Holy Moly recently added Smoky BBQ and Spicy Smoky BBQ to the lineup. Smoky BBQ is gluten-free and offers a balance of sweet and savory flavors. It has quickly become the company’s second best-selling flavor.
What challenges have you faced this year?
Like many small businesses, staffing has been a challenge. Some team members have moved away after completing college, while rising raw material and shipping costs have put additional pressure on the business. Holy Moly Snacks is working to absorb as much of those increases as possible while continuing to deliver the quality products and service customers expect.
